Since its inception in 1994, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony has touched the hearts and minds of the culturally and religiously diverse Jewish Community of Los Angeles. By reaching out with the language of music, the Symphony's programs have been instrumental in giving voice to the heart and soul of the Jewish people. With Jews from all over the world bringing their own customs, traditions, and varying approaches to Judaism in Southern California, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony has given the community a commonality through the measure of music. The Symphony's goal to educate children about their Jewish heritage through music is an integral part of our mission.

To an untrained observer the LAJS may be viewed as just another orchestra or community program or cultural endeavor. However, to a visionary open to the wonder behind the seemingly ordinary, the LAJS embraces a mission that goes to the very heart of our vision - to build and enrich the vitality of Judaism in the largest community of the Diaspora. Throughout the years, we've thought of the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony as the Wandering Jewish Orchestra. We're proud of the fact that we've reached out throughout the Southland - from Thousand Oaks to Long Beach, from Malibu to Palm Desert - we come to your community. We have performed with the First AME Church Choir, the Mariachi Divas and the Yuval Ron Ensemble. We have performed at the first flag-raising at the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles. The themes of our education programs are multi-cultural and multi-generational, serving audiences from elementary schools to senior communities. To bring the rich diversity of Jewish music to audiences throughout southern California and to pass the treasure of Jewish music and heritage to the next generation - this is our ongoing tradition!
